Atlantis Bahamas Favorites

Atlantis Bahamas Favorites

In February we spent a week at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Lucky us...we went just a few short weeks before coronavirus began spreading to the U.S.. It ended up being the perfect vacation: relaxation combined with exciting adventures!

We want to share some of our favorite resort spots, most memorable meals, and the top things to do.

Let’s Begin with our Favorite Resort Spots

#1 Aquaventure

Aquaventure is the water park on Atlantis and it’s filled with a wide variety of water rides. From some staples like the lazy river or the river rapids to more exhilarating tube slides. One slide even finishes in a tank surrounded by sharks! Even as a couple in their thirties, we still had a ton of fun acting like kids again. Lines were short, the water temperature was perfect, and  everything was well maintained.

#2 Pools

The resort has 11 pools, but we had two favorites: the Coral pool and the Royal Baths. The Coral was a fun pool that had a swim up bar, cabanas, and cushioned pool beds on the right side that were perfect for naps. Whereas the Royal Baths were a quieter, but beautiful pool with a sunburst mosaic. We spent many mornings here reading books in peace and quiet.

#3 The Beach Bar

There are lots of bars around from casual to elegant, but our favorite was the Beach Bar. It’s directly on the beach and you can sit under the cabana and look out among the clear blue water while you sip on a daiquiri. You can order a casual lunch here, but we chose to sip and see. In close second was an indoor bar called Moon Bar. Zach loves cigars so we found ourselves somehow at happy hour here daily for a cigar and cocktail hour - plus free snacks!

#4 Beach

There are five miles of beaches surrounding the resort, and really, you can’t go wrong. They’re stunning stretches of white sandy beaches with turquoise blue water and some seashells if you do some scouting!

#5 Marine Habitats

Around every corner and down every underground staircase, you’ll happily stumble upon marine life exhibits and caves with over 50,000 animals! You can spend hours just walking around and being shocked by the incredible animals and the unique design of the property.

Most Memorable Meals

We like to travel on a budget, so we stuck to the more affordable restaurants on the property.

#1 Pirate’s Republic

This microbrewery is a small place, but great for a casual meal and some brews. Our favorite meal was from here - a grouper sandwich.

#2 Virgil’s BBQ

This indoor restaurant serves family style large platters of BBQ and we absolutely loved the pork and the mac and cheese.

#3 The Village Burger Shack

By far, the most affordable but tasty meal we had was at the burger shack at the very end of the marina. The burgers and fries were fresh and filling!

Top Thing to Do

Dolphin Cay

Our top thing to do was spend time with the dolphins! There are many marine adventures you can book, but getting to be close to the dolphins stood out most to us. There are different options to choose from depending on if you want to just see them, touch them, or swim with them. We chose the Dip N Discover which meant we got about waist deep in the water in order to interact with the dolphins and get some fun pictures with them. It was incredible and so exhilarating!

On site, they also have sea lion adventures, a golf course, a gym, a spa, a casino, shopping, & more!

We loved Atlantis and the perfect combo of relaxation and fun we had!
