Love Locks Around the World

What’s more romantic than putting a lock onto a bridge or fence and throwing away the key? It’s a rebellious symbol of eternal love. As that lock gets lost in the rubble or sinks deep into the river, you feel a sense of a stronger bond; Nothing can break your bond now.

Love locks aka love padlocks started trending in Europe. It was believed to start in Pecs, Hungary by students who were in love. It has since spread across the world to many other romantic cities.

The idea is you put the love lock on with your initials on it. Place the lock somewhere on a love bridge and toss the key into the river. If you return to it at a later time and it is still there, your love is forever locked.

The only problem? Some cities like Paris started to remove locks in 2015 for safety reasons because a section of a fencing collapsed due to the weight of them. But have no fear, other cities welcome them. One city in Scotland even used it to raise money for a charity! So the love is not lost for locks.
